Testing, testing… Is this thing on? I do believe I am officially up and running as a self-hosted site — woo hoo! If you’re reading this, glad to see you! If you’re not, well… I’ll try to find you.
In any case, on to more important matters. It is cocktail Thursday, after all. While I may be tempted to make this week’s cocktail a whiskey, neat, after my bumpy transfer experience,* I do have a lovely new cocktail for you this week.
* I thought I lost all of my content at one point. I nearly threw up. Thankfully the AFBA and WordPressAustin came to the rescue and I was able to figure things out. There is still lots of work to do, but I am no longer freaking out!
The hubby and I had a date night last weekend, and we stopped by Drink Well for a cocktail before dinner. I’d wanted to try this place for a while, and it did not disappoint. Styling itself as an “American pub,” Drink Well had innovative but not over-the-top cocktails and a nice list of beers on tap, including several locals. I had a hard time deciding which of several great options to choose, but I ended up going with one of their “Summertime Sippers,” comically named the Royale with Ease.
A mixture of absinthe, grapefruit and lime juices, and a house-made hibiscus cordial, seasoned with allspice and bitters, it was a wonderfully nuanced drink that managed to be, as one regular apparently put it, “vacation in a glass”… but without a tiny umbrella.
In short, it was delicious. This is definitely not something I’ll be making at home anytime soon, due not in small part to a lack of absinthe in my liquor cabinet, but the good folks at Drink Well can make one for me anytime!
Bear with me (beer with me?) while I smooth out the lumps and learn about all my new functionalities, but in the meantime, please let me know if you are experiencing any problems with your subscription (via WordPress, email, or reader) or the site. Cheers everyone!

Argh.. Sorry! I’m working on it with WordPress (apparently everyone’s email subscription went bye-bye when I switched over)
but I think they all went on vacation! Should have it fixed soon. Thanks for bearing with me!
