I’m calling it: I’m officially a gin convert. We’re nearly halfway through the bottle of Tanqueray No. 10, and I have several new favorites. Turns out, I just needed to have some good gin to appreciate gin. Who knew?
The sidecar is one of my favorite cocktails, and there are so many lovely variations of it that I am still discovering new ones. Yesterday evening, I tried my hand at a Chelsea sidecar, a version of the classic using gin as the main spirit.
It was a hit with the hubby and me both, and refreshingly simple.
Chelsea Sidecar
Very gently adapted from The Ultimate Bar Book
2 oz gin
3/4 oz. Cointreau*
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
Combine all ingredients with plenty of ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
* I used my orange-infused brandy, which worked swimmingly as a substitute.

I just love the names of some of these drinks. One day … er … maybe I’ll make it “some year”, I’ll drink my way through a bar book.

Nice drink…Funny how it is with gin, hard to like until you get the cocktail or bottle that works…then you love it…
