This week’s cocktail is in French, which means it must be classy. In fact, the Soixante-Neuf is just a slight variation on a classic French 75, but it does require uncorking a bottle of sparkling wine, so it is, in fact, pretty darn classy.
This is my favorite new cocktail in quite some time, and my now-beloved Tanqueray No. 10 blends so seamlessly with the citrus flavors that you’d hardly even know it was there… it’s just a whisper.
Speaking on Tanqueray No. 10, I’ve finally made it through my very first bottle of gin, so I guess it’s about time to hit up the liquor store again. I’ll definitely be coming home with a new bottle of No. 10, but I’m looking to expand my horizons, too. What’s your favorite gin? How do you drink it?
- 1 oz gin
- ½ oz fresh lemon juice
- 5 oz sparkling wine
- lemon twist
- Combine the gin and lemon juice in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a champagne glass.
- Slowly top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon twist.

I love that it’s called a 69. The implications ….
