Kentucky Royale

By now you know about our weakness for bourbon around this house, and I’m on a Cherry Heering kick lately, too, so Putney Farm’s weekly cocktail, the Kentucky Royale, immediately went on my must-try list.

Kentucky Royale

This drink is almost like a liquid chocolate-covered cherry, but not in a too-sweet way. I’m thinking it would make the perfect Valentine’s Day libation for the bourbon lover in your life. Cheers!

Kentucky Royale
Recipe type: Drinks
Serves: 1
  • 1½ oz bourbon
  • ½ oz Cherry Heering
  • ½ oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 tsp coffee liqueur
  • 2 dashes bitters (chocolate bitters if you can find them; Angostura bitters do fine as well)
  • maraschino or brandied cherry, for garnish
  1. Combine the bourbon, Cherry Heering, sweet vermouth, coffee liqueur and bitters in a shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino or brandied cherry.

  2. That sounds delightful. I love a Manhattan, and this sounds like a dessert-ish version of it.
